Fashion month has officially come to an end. From New York to Paris, it is exciting to see the new directions that designers are taking this season, as well as how they are reinventing the classics. With so many shows, it is hard to keep track of all the wonderful pieces, but not to worry—we’re on the front line and are bringing you the key trends that came out of the Spring/Summer 2023 collections. Our Fashion Director, Tommy Fazio, commented, “Spring 2023 was a season of complex and creative inspirations that will translate into a unique look for women this coming Spring/Summer season.” From feminine power tailoring, to a new take on prints, and a lot of black, keep scrolling to see what is in store for the fashion world.
Black is the New Black
We all know the color black has an enticing beauty to it. Whether it is black lace as seen from Dior or the hippie chic styles from Versace, black is back in a big way this season. While Spring is traditionally a time filled with color, this year the chic elegance of jet black made a statement on the runway. Adding elements of texture and sharp silhouettes, these designers reminded us that black is always in.
Power Tailoring
This fashion month, designers showcased the art of tailoring but with a new, modern approach. From updated proportions to super-sized silhouettes, these pieces were designed to project a cool confidence. Loewe played with different shapes, while Valentino provided a feminine take on soft suiting, and Stella McCartney paired oversized blazers with asymmetric skirts to deliver an updated look.
Prints & Patterns
While Spring is typically associated with florals, this season designers incorporated an unexpected approach to prints. A powerful tool of self-expression that will push you out of your comfort zone, these prints will pop and make a statement this season. From Thom Browne’s playful polka dots, to Etro’s saturated ombre, to Carolina Herrera’s use of print-on-print, these looks were made to stand out in a crowd.
Skin is In
Sheer and mesh garments have been surfacing on the runway in a multitude of ways. We spotted a number of see-through silhouettes throughout fashion month—ranging from subtle to daring. Surfacing in everything from sporty daytime styles at Givenchy to seductive evening wear at Missoni and Rick Owens, designers this season played with sheer fabrics to create looks that are both chic and sexy.
